Double homeobox protein 4-like protein 2 (DUX4L2) is a member of the double homeobox transcription factor family, characterized by two adjacent DNA-binding homeodomains at the N-terminus[2][5]. The canonical family member DUX4 is a crucial developmental transcription factor, primarily expressed in early embryogenesis and testis; its misexpression is a well-established pathogenic driver in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and certain B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemias[1][2][3][5]. DUX4L2 is a close homolog but has not been independently implicated in human disease or therapeutic targeting. Most functional studies and disease relevance pertain to DUX4 itself.
