Overview

Double homeobox protein 4-like protein 6 (DUX4L6) is a predicted member of the DUX family of transcription factors, defined by the presence of two DNA-binding homeodomains in tandem. It shares sequence and structural similarity to the double homeobox 4 (DUX4) protein, a transcriptional regulator with critical roles in gene activation during early embryogenesis and in pathologies such as muscular dystrophy and cancer[1][3][4]. However, there is currently no experimental evidence that DUX4L6 is formally expressed as a protein in human tissues, nor that it possesses unique biological activity, clinical relevance, or disease associations independently from DUX4. Most references and research in the literature are specific to DUX4, and DUX4L6 remains largely uncharacterized beyond gene prediction status in genomic annotation databases[1][4].
