Doublecortin domain-containing protein 2B (DCDC2B) is a member of the doublecortin protein family involved in cytoskeletal regulation through its two doublecortin domains, which bind to tubulin and promote microtubule polymerization. DCDC2B is essential for the formation and function of sensory structures, including hair cells and primary cilia, with roles conserved across species such as humans and zebrafish. Genetic variation in DCDC2B and related proteins is associated with neurodevelopmental conditions, most notably reading disorders such as dyslexia, where regulatory variation may affect neuronal migration and sensory processing. While its biological role is increasingly recognized in neural and sensory cell integrity, there are currently no known drugs targeting DCDC2B or established clinical applications[2][3][4][10][13].
