Doublesex- and mab-3-related transcription factor C1B (DMRTC1B) is a member of the DMRT transcription factor family, characterized by a conserved DM DNA-binding domain. It is predicted to mediate sequence-specific binding to cis-regulatory DNA elements and is primarily localized in chromatin and the nucleus. DMRTC1B is involved in the development and regulation of gene expression, with particular relevance to sexual differentiation and possible roles in developmental disorders such as familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and 46, XX gonadal dysgenesis. Its closest paralog is DMRTC1, and it shares functional similarities with other DMRT family members that regulate sexual development; however, there is limited direct evidence that DMRTC1B itself is a current therapeutic target or interacts with approved drugs.
