DPH1 antisense RNA 1 (DPH1-AS1)

Target
DPH1-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, antisense RNA
01

Overview

DPH1 antisense RNA 1 is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the DPH1 gene locus. It belongs to the lncRNA group and functions as an antisense RNA, meaning it can regulate gene expression through a variety of mechanisms including transcriptional interference, chromatin modification, and stabilization or degradation of target mRNAs[2][3][7]. Antisense RNAs often exhibit regulatory effects in cis by affecting the allele from which they are transcribed, or in trans by modulating distant alleles, and can influence processes such as gene silencing and epigenetic modifications[2][3]. While some antisense lncRNAs are implicated in human diseases such as cancer or neurological conditions, the specific disease roles and molecular partners for DPH1-AS1 have not been well characterized, aside from an association noted with opioid abuse[7]. DPH1-AS1 is not considered a conventional therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, etc.), nor is it currently linked to known drugs, mechanisms of drug action, biomarkers, or notable safety concerns.
