DPPA3P1 is a pseudogene of the DPPA3 (Developmental Pluripotency Associated 3) gene. Pseudogenes by definition are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they usually arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically do not encode functional proteins. Unlike the true DPPA3 gene, which is involved in pluripotency and epigenetic reprogramming during early embryonic development[1][2], DPPA3P1 is not known to be expressed or to have any biological or pathological function. Pseudogenes like DPPA3P1 are not considered therapeutic targets, receptors, enzymes, or factors in disease mechanisms.
