Overview

DPPA3 pseudogene 11 is a non-protein coding gene classified as a processed pseudogene of the DPPA3 (Developmental Pluripotency Associated 3) gene[1]. Like other pseudogenes, DPPA3P11 is a genomic remnant resembling its functional parent but has lost protein-coding ability due to mutations, truncations, or lack of proper regulatory sequences[3]. Pseudogenes can play regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs, producing small interfering RNAs, or serving as microRNA decoys[3]. However, there is currently no evidence that DPPA3P11 itself acts as a functional regulator or therapeutic target. Its inclusion as a target would be incorrect according to structural and therapeutic conventions: therapeutic targets are typically proteins or functional RNAs with well-defined pharmacological roles. DPPA3P11 lacks these critical features and is not targeted by drugs nor used as a clinical biomarker.

Biological functions

Potential post-transcriptional gene regulation (may act via non-coding RNA or miRNA decoys[3])
03

Disease associations

Regulatory pseudogenes in general have been implicated in cancer and other diseases via transcript and RNA-mediated regulation, but DPPA3P11 specifically has not been linked to disease as of current data[3].
