DPY30 domain-containing protein 2 (DYDC2)

Overview

DPY30 domain-containing protein 2 (DYDC2) encodes a member of the DPY30 domain protein family. The protein has not been characterized with respect to molecular function, interacting partners, or pathways. Unlike DPY30, an essential core regulator of histone H3K4 methylation and gene expression, DYDC2's biological role in human cells is not defined. The gene locus overlaps with a related gene (possibly DYDC1) on the opposite strand, but its transcript variants and tissue expression pattern remain poorly documented. There is insufficient evidence that DYDC2 functions as a receptor, enzyme, transcription factor, or other canonical drug target; nor is it implicated in disease by mechanism. Most literature on the DPY30 domain concerns its structural role in chromatin remodeling complexes and transcriptional activation (for DPY30, not DYDC2). No drugs, biomarkers, or safety issues are known.

Mechanism of action

None identified for DYDC2, but for DPY30 domain generally: associated with histone methyltransferase complexes. Not applicable to DYDC2 specifically.

03

Biological functions

Unknown. Predicted to be involved in or related to chromatin organization via domain homology, but no direct functions have been established for DYDC2Related domain (DPY30) is linked to SET1/COMPASS complex assembly and histone methylation, but applicability to DYDC2 is not demonstrated.
04

Disease associations

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy is listed as associated, but this is based on genomic location overlap and not on established protein function. No experimental disease role validated for DYDC2
