DSCR4 intronic transcript 1 (DSCR4-IT1) is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed from an intronic region of the DSCR4 gene on human chromosome 21. It is classified as lncRNA and displays upregulated expression in gastric cancer cell lines compared with normal gastric mucosal cells, suggesting a potential role in cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Loss-of-function studies indicate that DSCR4-IT1 supports the growth and invasiveness of cancer cells, giving it possible oncogenic properties in the context of gastric cancer. No current evidence indicates that DSCR4-IT1 is a therapeutic target (such as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or transcription factor), and there are no known interacting drugs or mechanisms of action. Its presence and potential function as a biomarker are still under investigation, mainly in oncology research.
