Overview

DTD1 antisense RNA 1 (DTD1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) classified as a natural antisense transcript, transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the DTD1 locus[3]. Such antisense RNAs are known to regulate gene expression by interacting with complementary sense mRNAs, influencing both mRNA stability and transcription, and may modulate chromatin state. These RNAs often operate either in cis (locally at their site of synthesis) or in trans, and play roles in epigenetic regulation, transcriptional interference, and RNA processing. While the general class of antisense RNAs is increasingly implicated in cancer and other diseases through the regulation of gene expression, there is currently no evidence that DTD1 antisense RNA 1 itself acts as a direct therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), nor are there any approved drugs targeting this RNA[1][3][5]. Research into natural antisense transcripts continues to expand, revealing their potential as regulators and therapeutic modulators largely within the field of cancer biology[1][5].
