Overview

Dual leucine zipper kinase (DLK), also known as MAP3K12, is a member of the mixed-lineage kinase (MLK) family and functions as a mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase (MAPKKK). It is a serine/threonine protein kinase that regulates neuronal stress responses, axonal degeneration, and regeneration through downstream effectors like JNKs and p-c-Jun. DLK is a potential therapeutic target for preventing progressive neuronal loss in various neurological diseases.
