Dual specificity phosphatase 8 pseudogene 2" (DUSP8P2) is a human pseudogene associated with the active gene DUSP8, which encodes a dual specificity phosphatase involved in the regulation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart, DUSP8P2 does not encode a functional protein. Increasing evidence suggests some pseudogenes can participate in RNA-mediated regulatory networks, such as acting as microRNA decoys or influencing gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, but the specific function of DUSP8P2 in physiological or pathological contexts is not well characterized. It is not considered a therapeutic target.
