Dual specificity phosphatase 8 pseudogene 5 (DUSP8P5) is a processed pseudogene related to the dual specificity phosphatase 8 (DUSP8) gene. DUSP8P5 does not encode a functional protein and contains point mutations and genomic deletions that prevent it from producing an active enzyme. Its sequences are present on chromosome 11q22.2, in contrast to the functional DUSP8 gene, which is located at 11p15.5[5].
