Dual specificity protein phosphatase CDC14C is a predicted member of the Cdc14 protein phosphatase family, which in many eukaryotes regulates phosphorylation of substrates involved in mitosis and cell cycle exit. CDC14C is encoded by the human gene *CDC14C* (Gene ID: 168448)[5], but as of now its molecular function, biological relevance, and disease association are poorly described or uncharacterized. Reports for other Cdc14 family members (Cdc14A, Cdc14B) show they play crucial roles in centrosome duplication, DNA damage response, and cell division[1][3][6], but no such functions have been experimentally validated for CDC14C. Most of the documented aliases for CDC14C are references to retrotransposed copies or alternate isoforms of CDC14B[5]. Key caveat: CDC14C is a poorly characterized, likely predicted protein/retrogene, with virtually no literature evidence for biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance as of the current date. Detailed functional characterization exists for CDC14A and CDC14B, which are well-studied enzymes in cell cycle regulation[1][6]. Search results confirm CDC14C is annotated in gene databases[5] but lack direct experimental data. All disease roles, biological functions, and target relationships described in scientific works pertain to *other* CDC14 family members (CDC14A/B), and should not be directly imputed to CDC14C.
