Dynamin 1 pseudogene 50 (DNM1P50) is a sequence in the human genome that closely resembles the DNM1 gene, which encodes the dynamin 1 protein, but lacks the ability to produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes like DNM1P50 arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Unlike the intact DNM1 gene, which encodes a large GTPase involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and synaptic vesicle recycling[5][12], DNM1P50 itself is not transcribed into a functional product and thus has no established physiological or pathological role. It is cataloged in genetic databases for reference and evolutionary/genomic studies, but not as a druggable target or actionable biomolecule[8].
