Dynein axonemal heavy chain 7 (DNAH7)

Target
DNAH7
Molecular classification
Motor protein, Cytoskeletal protein, ATPase
01

Overview

Dynein axonemal heavy chain 7 is a force-generating ATPase protein that forms part of the inner dynein arm of ciliary axonemes, essential for the beating motion of respiratory cilia and sperm flagella. Mutations in DNAH7 disrupt normal ciliary motility and are associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia, leading to impaired mucociliary clearance and potential respiratory complications. This protein binds to ATP and calcium ions, powers movement towards the microtubule minus-end, and is crucial for ciliary and flagellar function in multiple tissues[1][2][5].
