Target intelligence / Profile preview
Dynein light chain LC8-type 1 pseudogene 3 (DYNLL1P3) is a human genomic pseudogene that exhibits sequence similarity to the functional gene encoding Dynein light chain LC8-type 1, but lacks the ability to produce a functional protein product due to disabling mutations or truncations[1][6]. Pseudogenes like DYNLL1P3 are vestiges of ancestral genes and generally do not possess biological activity. While some pseudogenes can impact cellular regulation through RNA interference or microRNA decoy activity, there is no evidence that DYNLL1P3 has any functional role. Importantly, pseudogenes can be sources of confusion in molecular assays and are frequently misannotated as genes or functional targets, but DYNLL1P3 should not be considered a therapeutic target for drug development or research[6][1][4].
