Dynein light chain LC8-type 1 pseudogene 6 (DYNLL1P6) is classified as a pseudogene, not a functional protein-coding gene. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA that resemble known genes but are typically unable to produce a functional protein due to inactivating mutations, insertions, deletions, or the lack of regulatory elements necessary for expression. DYNLL1P6 shares significant sequence similarity with the functional DYNLL1 gene (dynein light chain LC8-type 1), but it is not expected to have an active biological function, therapeutic relevance, or established disease associations. Pseudogenes like DYNLL1P6 may occasionally be transcribed into RNA at low levels, but such transcripts are usually nonfunctional; in rare cases, pseudogenes may acquire regulatory roles, but such functions have not been described for DYNLL1P6.
