Overview

Dynein light chain Tctex-type 4 (DYNLT4) is a small protein subunit of cytoplasmic dynein complexes, primarily involved in microtubule-based intracellular transport. It binds to protein phosphatase 1 (PPP1) and regulates phosphatase-dependent events, thus playing a role in the dynamic regulation of microtubules. DYNLT4 is localized in the cytoskeleton, sperm flagellum, the acrosome, and the microtubule-organizing center. It is particularly important in the testis and spermatozoa, where it supports sperm motility, acrosome reaction, and integrity of the blood–testis barrier. Altered expression of DYNLT4 has been observed in certain tumor types as part of prognostic molecular signatures, suggesting a possible role in cancer biology, but there is no evidence that it is a direct druggable or therapeutic target[1][2][4][6].
