Overview

Dynein light chain Tctex-type family member 5 (DYNLT5) is a cytoplasmic protein encoded by the DYNLT5 gene and classified as a light chain component of the cytoplasmic dynein motor protein complex. It is predicted to enable dynein intermediate chain binding activity, to participate in microtubule-based movement, and to form part of the cytoplasmic dynein complex which is essential for intracellular retrograde transport processes[2][4][10][12]. DYNLT5 likely plays a key structural and regulatory role within the dynein complex, facilitating its interaction with specific cargo during organelle and vesicle transport along microtubules[2][4]. Disease associations include primary ciliary dyskinesia subtypes and a potential modifier role in the progression of Duchenne muscular dystrophy[4][10]. There are currently no approved drugs, biomarkers, or safety issues associated with DYNLT5 as a molecular therapeutic target, and it is not currently considered a druggable target[4][10][13].
