Target intelligence / Profile preview
E-selectin is a cell adhesion molecule exclusively expressed on endothelial cells that plays a crucial role in inflammation and immune cell trafficking. Unlike other selectins, E-selectin expression is primarily induced by inflammatory stimuli rather than being constitutively expressed in most tissues. It mediates the capture and rolling of leukocytes, contributing to inflammatory responses, thrombus formation, and leukocyte activation. Targeting E-selectin holds therapeutic potential in cancer, vascular diseases, and sickle cell disease.
