Target intelligence / Profile preview
p300 is a transcriptional coactivator with histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity. It regulates gene expression by acetylating lysine residues on histones and non-histone proteins, leading to chromatin remodeling and increased accessibility of DNA for transcription. It plays a crucial role in cell growth, differentiation, and tumor suppression. Mutations or dysregulation of EP300 are linked to developmental disorders and cancer. Small-molecule inhibitors targeting its HAT domain are being explored for therapeutic use.
