KIAA1586 is primarily classified as an E3 SUMO ligase, and its enzymatic activity contributes to protein sumoylation, impacting protein stability, function, and localization. Genetically, it is located on human chromosome 6 and is implicated in disease via gene fusion events (e.g., with RREB1), suggesting a possible role in oncogenesis.
