It functions by mediating ubiquitin-dependent protein modification, thereby marking specific substrates for degradation or regulatory modification. During meiosis, CCNB1IP1 helps ensure accurate chromosome segregation by promoting the formation of crossover sites, interacting with other proteins involved in homologous recombination and DNA repair[1][2][6]. Overexpression of CCNB1IP1 can disrupt the timing of mitosis, illustrating its essential role in cell cycle control[1]. Alterations in its expression or function have been associated with certain cancers, such as Schwannomatosis, and potentially other diseases where cell cycle dysregulation plays a part[1][2].
