Overview

Sweat glands are specialized exocrine glands found only in mammals, responsible for producing and secreting sweat onto the skin surface via ducts. Their primary function is thermoregulation through evaporative cooling, but they also play roles in excretion and, for some types, scent communication. There are two main types: eccrine (involved in thermoregulation) and apocrine (involved in scent signaling).
