Target intelligence / Profile preview
ECI1 antisense RNA 1 (ECI1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA gene (lncRNA) located antisense to the ECI1 gene[1]. It is transcribed in the opposite direction to the protein-coding ECI1 gene, which encodes enoyl-CoA delta isomerase 1, a mitochondrial enzyme involved in fatty acid beta-oxidation[5]. The biological function, disease association, and therapeutic potential of ECI1-AS1 are not well characterized in the current scientific literature. As with other antisense RNAs, potential general functions may include *cis* or *trans* regulation of the sense (ECI1) gene, possibly influencing gene expression by transcriptional interference or RNA-RNA interactions[3][7]. However, there is no specific information regarding ECI1-AS1’s involvement in any diseases, its relevance as a biomarker, or as a validated drug target. Key points: - ECI1-AS1 is a noncoding RNA, not a protein, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or known drug target[1]. - There is no evidence it is currently considered a validated or actionable therapeutic target[1][3]. - No well-established functions, disease links, interacting drugs, or biomarker relevance are currently described for ECI1-AS1 specifically. If more detailed molecular or disease function data for ECI1-AS1 emerges, the above information should be updated.
