01

Overview

Ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 2 (ENTPD2), also known as NTPDase-2 or CD39L1, is an ecto-nucleotidase enzyme that belongs to the E-NTPDase family. It is an integral membrane protein responsible for hydrolyzing extracellular nucleoside triphosphates, primarily ATP, to nucleoside monophosphates. ENTPD2 plays a key role in regulating purinergic signaling by controlling extracellular ATP concentrations in various tissues including the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. Its activity is calcium or magnesium dependent. It is involved in taste transduction through ATP degradation and may also have roles in immune modulation and vascular biology.
