Overview

EDNRB antisense RNA 1 (EDNRB-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), classified as an antisense transcript, located on human chromosome 13. It is transcribed in the opposite direction to the EDNRB (endothelin receptor type B) gene, but does not code for a protein. Several diseases have shown genetic association with EDNRB-AS1, including Waardenburg syndrome type 4A and Abcd syndrome; however, the direct pathogenic role or specific biological functions of EDNRB-AS1 remain unclear. No drugs are known to target this RNA, and it is not currently considered a standard therapeutic target. EDNRB-AS1 is part of the emerging class of lncRNAs implicated in regulation of neighboring or overlapping protein-coding genes, but further research is needed to determine its full biological roles.
