Overview

EEF1A lysine methyltransferase 2 (EEF1AKMT2), also known as METTL10, is an enzyme that catalyzes the trimethylation of lysine-318 on the eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha (EEF1A). This protein is part of the class I-like S-adenosyl methionine (SAM)-binding methyltransferase superfamily, specifically within the EFM4 family. EEF1AKMT2 is a cytosolic and nucleoplasmic protein involved in protein lysine methylation, which is important for regulating the structure and function of modified proteins. Its best-characterized substrate is EEF1A, a key translational GTPase in mRNA translation. No direct drug interactions or disease associations have been established based on current genomic databases and literature.
