Target intelligence / Profile preview
The EF-hand calcium binding domain 1 pseudogene is a nonfunctional DNA sequence with homology to the functional EF-hand calcium binding domain 1 gene. It is incapable of producing a functional protein product and is classified as a pseudogene, a common noncoding genetic element observed in eukaryotic genomes. Pseudogenes, unlike their functional gene counterparts, generally have no known biological activity, molecular function, or role as drug targets. Although some pseudogenes may possess regulatory roles in RNA interference or disease biology, this status is not proven for EF-hand calcium binding domain 1 pseudogene[1][3][4].
