Effector Immune Response

Molecular classification
Immune Response, Cell-mediated Immunity, Humoral Immunity, Innate Immunity, Adaptive Immunity
01

Overview

The effector immune response is the phase of the immune response where activated immune cells, known as effector cells, actively eliminate pathogens, infected cells, or abnormal cells. This involves various mechanisms such as direct cell killing by cytotoxic T lymphocytes, antibody-mediated neutralization of pathogens by plasma B cells, and recruitment of other immune components through cytokine release. The effector phase is crucial for clearing infections, controlling tumors, and resolving inflammation. It can also be manipulated therapeutically, for example, in CAR-T cell therapy for cancer.
