Target intelligence / Profile preview
EGFR interacting long non-coding RNA (EGILA, also known as lnc-EGFR or Lnc-EGFR) is a non-protein-coding RNA molecule, officially approved and catalogued (HGNC:54482), that binds directly to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). EGILA enhances EGFR stability by blocking its interaction with the E3 ubiquitin ligase c-CBL, preventing EGFR degradation. This leads to sustained EGFR signaling, which in turn promotes the differentiation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and suppresses cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) function within the tumor microenvironment. This immunomodulatory effect contributes to tumor immune evasion and progression, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma. EGILA is thus under investigation as both a novel cancer biomarker and a therapeutic target, although it is not a canonical protein-coding target for traditional small molecule or antibody therapeutics[2][3].
Binding to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and stabilizing its protein expression. Preventing EGFR ubiquitination and degradation via inhibition of c-CBL-mediated ubiquitination. Promoting activation of the EGFR/AP-1/NF-AT1 signaling axis. Supporting regulatory T cell (Treg) differentiation and suppressing cytotoxic T cell activity, contributing to cancer immune evasion.
