Eicosanoid biosynthesis refers to the complex set of enzymatic pathways that convert polyunsaturated fatty acids—primarily arachidonic acid—into bioactive lipid mediators known as eicosanoids. The main enzymatic routes include cyclooxygenases (COX), lipoxygenases (LOX), and cytochrome P450 monooxygenases.
