EIF1AX antisense RNA 1 (EIF1AX-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA classified as an antisense transcript to the EIF1AX gene, predominantly localized in the cytoplasm of endometrial cancer cells[1]. EIF1AX-AS1 is downregulated in endometrial carcinoma tissues and acts as a tumor suppressor, inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting apoptosis by destabilizing EIF1AX mRNA through binding to poly C binding protein 1 (PCBP1)[1][5]. This regulatory axis affects c-Myc translation and is implicated in tumor growth, suggesting EIF1AX-AS1 as a potential prognostic biomarker and candidate for therapeutic exploration in endometrial cancer[1][5]. There are currently no approved drugs or direct pharmacological modulators targeting EIF1AX-AS1 itself.
