EIF5 divergent transcript (EIF5-DT), also known as EIF5-AS1 or LINC00346, is a human long non-coding RNA transcribed divergently from the EIF5 gene locus. It does not encode a protein but has been observed to regulate the expression of neighboring or overlapping protein-coding genes and is frequently implicated in tumor development, progression, and prognosis across multiple cancer types. As a regulatory RNA, EIF5-DT may modulate gene expression through interactions with chromatin, microRNAs, or mRNA stability. Overexpression or dysregulation of EIF5-DT has been associated with several human cancers, and higher levels may correlate with poor prognosis. However, it is not considered a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme, though it may have value as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis or prognosis.
