ELAVL4 antisense RNA 1 (ELAVL4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the ELAVL4 locus. While antisense RNAs can regulate their sense counterparts through mechanisms such as RNA-RNA interaction or chromatin modulation, there is no direct evidence in the biomedical literature for a specific functional role, disease association, or druggability of ELAVL4-AS1. In contrast, the protein-coding gene ELAVL4 (HuD) is a well-studied neuronal RNA-binding protein implicated in neurodevelopment, axonal growth, synaptic plasticity, and neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Parkinson’s disease[1][3][4]. ELAVL4-AS1 remains poorly characterized and is not recognized as a canonical therapeutic target.
