Overview

ELF2 pseudogene 3 (ELF2P3) is annotated as a pseudogene of the ELF2 (E74 Like ETS Transcription Factor 2) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic sequences similar to known genes but considered nonfunctional as they generally do not encode functional proteins[3][4]. While some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles at the RNA level—such as acting as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs)[4]—there is no specific evidence that ELF2P3 plays such a role. The parental gene, ELF2, encodes a transcription factor involved in cell cycle progression and immune cell regulation[2][5], but ELF2P3 itself is not considered a therapeutic target, does not code for a protein, and has not been associated with pharmacologically relevant functions or disease roles. Due to its annotation as a pseudogene and absence from target databases or drug discovery literature, ELF2P3 is not regarded as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other target class protein.
