Elongin C pseudogene 11 (ELOCP11, TCEB1P11) is classified as a pseudogene located in the human genome and does not encode a functional protein. It is a member of the elongin C pseudogene family and is not known to have biological activity, clinical significance, or established disease associations. This should not be confused with the functional ELOC gene (elongin C), which encodes a regulatory subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex involved in transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase II. Pseudogenes are non-functional sequences similar to known genes but typically lack coding potential and biological activity. There are no reported roles as biomarkers, therapeutic targets, or interacting drugs for ELOCP11. Major curated gene databases such as HGNC and BioGPS list ELOCP11 explicitly as a pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene or target. Information for the functional ELOC gene is available and describes important biological roles, but this does not apply to ELOCP11, which is non-functional as a protein product.
