Elongin C pseudogene 16 (ELOCP16) is a human pseudogene related to the functional ELOC (elongin C) gene, which in its active form encodes a regulatory subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex involved in RNA polymerase II transcription elongation[1][3]. However, ELOCP16 itself is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode an active protein product and does not play a known role in normal cellular or disease biology. There are no known drugs, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance for this gene[2][4][5][8]. Summary of findings: ELOCP16 is not a therapeutic target. There is no evidence that it encodes a functional protein.
