There is no evidence for its expression or role as a protein or regulatory RNA, nor is it implicated in biological processes or diseases. Unlike true targets such as elongin C (which acts in RNA polymerase II transcriptional elongation and is involved in protein ubiquitination complexes), ELOCP27 lacks any established function, disease association, or relevance for pharmacology research[4][7][9]. This entity should not be confused with the functional elongin C gene (ELOC), which is a well-characterized transcription elongation factor[1][2][3]. ELOCP27 is a non-coding pseudogene and is not a valid molecular target for therapeutic, diagnostic, or mechanistic study[4][7][9].
