Overview

Elongin C pseudogene 28 (ELOCP28) is a non-protein-coding genomic region classified as a pseudogene for elongin C. It is also known as TCEB1P28. Unlike active protein-coding genes, pseudogenes typically lack biologically active transcripts or proteins and do not serve as therapeutic, enzymatic, or receptor targets. There is no evidence for involvement in disease or cellular pathways, nor for interaction with any drugs[1][7]. ELOCP28 is distinct from the functional elongin C gene (ELOC), which encodes a regulatory subunit of the SIII transcription elongation complex and is involved in RNA polymerase II activity and various ubiquitin ligase complexes[4][3]. ELOCP28 is only a pseudogene copy related to ELOC, with no known functional product.
