Elongin C pseudogene 3 (ELOCP3, also referred to as TCEB1P3 or dJ254P11.1) is a human pseudogene related to the elongin C (ELOC) gene, which encodes a genuine component of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex involved in transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II[4][7]. However, ELOCP3 itself is not believed to produce a functional protein and does not have an established biological function, disease role, or therapeutic relevance. As a pseudogene, it may share sequence similarity with ELOC but is considered non-functional regarding protein expression[4][7]. Key context: - ELOCP3 should not be confused with ELOC (elongin C), a well-characterized protein-coding gene involved in transcriptional regulation and ubiquitination[1][2]. - The presence of "pseudogene" in the name signifies its non-coding, non-functional status. - No relevant drug interactions, biomarkers, molecular mechanisms, or disease associations have been described for ELOCP3[4][7].
