Overview

Elongin C pseudogene 35 (ELOCP35) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome. It is officially named "transcription elongation factor B (SIII), polypeptide 1 pseudogene 35" and also referred to as TCEB1P35. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but are non-coding and generally do not produce functional proteins. There is no evidence that ELOCP35 encodes a functional protein or plays any direct role in biological functions, disease processes, or drug interactions. It is not considered a therapeutic target. The prefix “pseudogene” and all available database entries indicate that ELOCP35 is not a protein-coding gene and does not serve as a receptor, enzyme, or other common drug target class. No literature or recognized biological function, disease role, or drug interaction is associated with ELOCP35, in contrast to its parent gene ELOC, which encodes the functional protein elongin C.
