Overview

Elongin C pseudogene 5 (ELOCP5) is a *pseudogene* related to the ELOC gene, which encodes elongin C, a regulatory subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex. While elongin C participates in transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II and ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation via cullin-RING ligase complexes[4], ELOCP5 does not produce functional protein and is not an established biological or therapeutic target. Pseudogenes like ELOCP5 may sometimes produce non-coding RNAs with potential minor regulatory activity, but there is no credible literature or database evidence of functional or pathogenic roles, or drug targeting, for ELOCP5[2][3][4].
