EML2 antisense RNA 1 (EML2-AS1), also known as C19orf83, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 19[1][5]. EML2-AS1 is classified as an antisense RNA because it is transcribed from the opposite genomic strand of the EML2 gene[8]. This lncRNA has been implicated in cellular processes such as proliferation, migration, and apoptosis, and its expression is often altered in various cancer types[2]. However, EML2-AS1 itself is not a therapeutic target like a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are currently no known drugs or biomarkers associated with it. Its main recognized relevance is its potential role in cancer biology as a lncRNA influencing cellular behavior through regulation of gene expression[2][5].
