Overview

EML4 antisense RNA 1 (EML4-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 2, transcribed antisense to the EML4 gene. Unlike the protein-coding gene EML4 or the oncogenic fusion protein EML4-ALK, EML4-AS1 does not encode a protein but may have regulatory functions affecting its sense gene or related cellular pathways. There is currently limited experimental or clinical data available regarding its precise role in physiology or disease, and it is not currently established as a direct therapeutic target or clinical biomarker. Note: EML4-AS1 should not be confused with EML4 (the microtubule-associated protein) or EML4-ALK (the oncogenic fusion protein found in certain lung cancers).

Biological functions

Currently, there is limited information directly describing the biological function of EML4-AS1 in publicly available sources. As a lncRNA, it may have regulatory roles at the RNA or chromatin level, but specific validated functions are not yet established in the literature provided.
03

Disease associations

Insufficient direct evidence, but as an antisense RNA to EML4, there may be an association with cancer, particularly if it regulates EML4 or the EML4-ALK fusion gene.
