Overview

Emopamil binding protein-like pseudogene (ENSG00000260668) is a nonfunctional DNA sequence in humans that shares sequence similarity with the emopamil binding protein-like (EBPL) gene. Pseudogenes like this may be present due to ancient gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are characterized by the inability to encode a functional protein[2][4][1]. While some pseudogenes have roles in gene regulation, there is currently no evidence that this pseudogene has any distinct biological function or relevance as a drug target.
