Target intelligence / Profile preview
EMP2 pseudogene 1 (EMP2P1) is a pseudogene that shares sequence similarity with the active EMP2 (Epithelial membrane protein 2) gene but has no evidence of coding a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as EMP2P1 lack regulatory elements or contain mutations preventing gene expression. EMP2P1 is not considered a valid therapeutic target, does not encode a membrane protein, and has no known biological function or links to disease. All literature referring to therapeutic potential, disease association, or biomarker use relates to the protein-coding EMP2 gene and should not be attributed to EMP2P1.
