The Emt protein tyrosine kinase, also known as ITK (Interleukin-2-inducible T-cell kinase) or TSK, is a member of the Tec family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases. It plays a critical role in intracellular signaling within lymphocytes, particularly T cells. The enzyme is involved in transmitting signals from various cell surface receptors to downstream effectors that regulate cellular responses such as activation, proliferation, and differentiation. It regulates key steps during early phases of immune cell activation by modulating other signaling proteins such as PLCγ1 through domain-specific interactions. Its function depends on upstream Src-family kinases like LCK.
