Overview

Endogenous retrovirus group FRD member 3 (ERVFRD-3) is identified as a pseudogene in the human genome, derived from an ancient retroviral insertion. According to current genomic databases and functional annotations, ERVFRD-3 does not encode a protein, and there are no established links to disease relevance or therapeutic intervention. It belongs to a family of genomic elements known as human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs), which are remnants of historical retroviral infections that have integrated into primate genomes. Unlike some related loci such as ERVFRD-1 (Syncytin-2), which has a known role in placental biology, ERVFRD-3 has not been assigned clear biological or clinical functions, nor is it recognized as a pharmacological target.
